Inmate Video Visits

Cy Pres Award for Video Visits

The Public Law Library of King County was awarded funds from a class action settlement regarding inmate collect calls. The settlement funds are generally limited to projects that directly benefit inmates and their families. The Public Law Library has used a portion of these funds to purchase video conference equipment for conference rooms at both our library locations. Department of Corrections (DOC) approved visitors may use this equipment free-of-charge to participate in a video visit (using JPay.com) with inmates at all DOC facilities except Stafford Creek.

The remainder of the funds will be used to reimburse Video Visit participants for the cost of the visit as charged by JPay (currently $12.95 per visit). To qualify for reimbursement, the video visit must take place at one of our locations and be scheduled in advance through JPay and the Library. Participants will be reimbursed in cash at the conclusion of the video visit. Additional restrictions apply.
